Duties

The primary objective of this exciting role is to liaise between business users and the IT team, to ensure that business operational requirements are understood and delivered in appropriate IT solutions.  This will involve documentation, analysis and delivery of business process and systems initiatives.

You will build relationships with stakeholders to ensure system solutions are designed and delivered effectively and meet the requirements of the business.  There will be a focus on continuous improvement and contributing to the effective operation of the business.

Reporting to the Head of Business Architecture, your responsibilities include to:

  • Liaise with business and IT teams to provide insights into requirements, processes, systems enhancements, and problem resolutions to support, evolve, and/or transform business operations

  • Actively gather, analyse, and understand business requirements for possible IT solutions, both operationally and from a reporting / business intelligence perspective

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications

  • Document, analyse, revise current and proposed business processes

  • Develop functional and aspects of technical specifications

  • Oversee and support testing and release processes, including coordinating facets of user acceptance testing and linking that to acceptance test plans and requirements

  • Support change management, including development of user operational documentation, and possibly facilitating and/or delivering aspects of training

  • Manage and engage key internal stakeholders within operations and cross functionally with Business Analysts in other domains

  • Actively participate as a valued team member, and the wider IT and corporate teams, to achieve team, department, and organisational goals. 

  • Lead, champion, and support continuous improvement of of IT and business operation including identifying opportunities for updating of practices and processes and increased operational efficiency

Essential Skills and Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in IT, with a least 2 years of experience in a business analysis role

  • Tertiary level qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, directed to end-users and IT employees, at all levels of the organisation.

  • Good understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development lifecycle

  • Technical knowledge of requirements gathering, process documentation, testing methodologies, and change management methodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, and interpret business needs and propose appropriate technical solutions

  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills

  • Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills

  • An appreciation of both IT and business strategy

  • Strong customer service focus

  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering
